Astronomers for first time received high -quality image of black hole of Sagittarius a*

Scientists for the first time received a high -quality image of the black hole of Sagittarius a* (sagittarius a*) in the center of the Milky Way – the Galaxy, in which the Earth and the Solar System are located.

The image was received by scientists in the framework of cooperation with the Event Horizon Telescope project (“Telescope of the horizon of events”).

According to Space.com, the first images of a compact radio source called Sagittarius A* were received in May 2022.

The same time, astronomers first received an image of an object in a polarized light, which is a breakthrough.

The new picture made it possible to detect strong and organized magnetic fields, spirally spreading from the edge of the super -massive black hole of Sagittarius a.

– The first image of a black hole was published in 2019

The first image of the black hole was published by Event Horizon Telescope in 2019.

This black hole is 6.5 billion times more massive than the Sun and is located in the center of the M87 galaxy, which is located at a distance of 55 million light years from the Earth and 54.8 million light years from the Milky Way.
