Azerbaijani businessman died in Spain, but court continues

Azerbaijani businessman Farhad Abbasov, who lived in Spain for many years, in September last year, died from Coronavirus. Abbasy gave his great condition for oil in Azerbaijan. In 1993, he moved to Spain with his family, where he also was engaged in business. However, in 1999, a businessman committed an unsuccessful investment. He sued him. The property was confiscated, but the trial lasts until now. Despite the fact that the 78-year-old former tycoon passed away five months ago, the Spanish justice continues to be harvested against him, reports Haqqin.az with reference to El Español.

In Spain, Farhad Abbasov settled in Alicante, located at the Mediterranean Sea. In the tourist paradise, the businessman opened a restaurant, and then began to invest in real estate, selling at home coming from Russia. Business developed, the state increased. Farhad lived with his wife and daughter in the chalet, traveled on expensive cars, had everything except the yacht, and finally decided to order it. This is where his problems began …

Becoming the owner of the yacht, Abbasy received tempting, as it seemed to him, the offer from the owner of the shipyard. He offered to become his partner, having bought a share in two companies engaged in the construction of luxury ships, repair, maintenance, rental and sale.

In May 1999, Farhad and his friend, a Russian businessman paid 170 million peashes (at that time more than 1 million dollars) each for the acquisition of 25 percent of the aforementioned companies. However, the deal turned a disaster – these companies had huge debts.

Abbasova had to sell a restaurant, take bank loans to pay debts. He filed a lawsuit, accusing the owner of the shipyard in the assignment of 1.2 million euros. In response, the shipyard filed four complaints about Abbasov, accusing him to corporate crimes, assigning, unscrupulous management and coercion. The claims of Azerbaijani magnate were rejected, and the courts on complaints of his opponent lasted the whole eternity.

10 thousand pages and 20 volumes of the confused case could turn into the Farhad Abbasov on 26 years in prison and the obligation to pay 6 million euros. However, for 22 years of trial, the final verdict was never submitted.

Over the years, the Azerbaijan entrepreneur lost all his property – all his assets were arrested. In recent years, he retired 560 euros per month.

Abbasov died on September 4, 2021 from COVID-19. In the summer he went to Russia, where the Vaccine “Satellite V” was given. Upon returning to Alicante, the elderly man had to be hospitalized after the positive result of the test on Coronavirus. He spent in the hospital over 50 days with bilateral pneumonia, but did not manage to save him.

However, the most amazing thing in this matter is that, even being buried, Farhad Abbasov continues to remain in the status of the defendant. “Such in my career has never happened,” says the lawyer of the late Javier Verda. “The criminal case against Mr. Abbasov was terminated in connection with his death, but the consideration of the claim will continue.”
