Deputy Chairman of Central Bank of China was arrested for corruption

Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of China and one of the pioneers in the field of digital finance Fan Ifay was arrested on suspicion of corruption. This was stated in the statement of the Central Disciplinary Investigative Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

He became the first senior official in respect of whom an investigation was conducted after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China last month.

Although the CPC report does not give details of the accusations, the statement of “violation of discipline” and “illegal behavior” during the investigations of the committee usually indicate suspicions or accusations of corruption.
