IMF: economy is waiting for “worst times”

The global economy is still experiencing serious difficulties, and the worst for it is still ahead of it, said the chief economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Pierre Olivier Gurinsha, writes Bloomberg.

According to him, three factors are currently operating on the world economy: the war in Ukraine, the “crisis of the cost of life caused by expanding inflationary pressure”, as well as a decrease in economic activity in China.

“more than a third of the world economy in this or next year is awaited, and in the three largest economies (USA, European Union and China – Ed.) Stagnation will continue. In other words, the worst is still ahead, and for many people the situation in 2023 will be perceived as a recession, ”said the economist.

The IMF left the former July forecast for the growth of the global economy, in 2022 it should be 3.2%. In 2023, economists expect a slowdown in growth to 2.7%.
