Iran: an opposition journalist was detained

Iranian security forces detained the journalist of the opposition television channel Iran International Elham Afkari. This was reported by Tasnim.

According to him, she was accused of “slander against the state system of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iri – Ed.) And of inciting young people to organize riots”.

According to sources, law enforcement officers observed the suspect over the past few years and came to the conclusion that the journalist “was in constant contact with counter -revolutionary agents and became one of the main organizers of the riots in Iran.”

Elham Afkari was detained while trying to cross the border. According to law enforcement officers, she planned to go to the country neighboring Iran, meet there with the “representative of the unfriendly state”, and then ask for political asylum.
