Iran and Emirates argue again from behind islands in Persian Gulf

The State Resident of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Rim Bint Ibrahim Al Khachemi, speaking at the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, demanded that Iran stop the “occupation” of the three islands in the Persian Gulf: Big Tomba, Small Tomba and Abu Mus.

According to her, the UAE has a sovereign right of owning these islands: “We will never stop putting our legal claims to these islands either by direct negotiations or through an international court.”

At the same time, the Iran’s delegation at the UN General Assembly in response to Rome Bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, rejected the “unreasonable claims” of the United Arab Emirates to these islands, Tasnim reports.

“The approval of the official representative of the Emirates and the repetition of unreasonable statements regarding the Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf are equal to the encroachment on the territorial integrity of Iran,” the statement of the delegation of Iran said.

The Iranian delegation added that Tehran considers “irresponsible” statements by interference in his internal affairs and a violation of the fundamental principles of international law.

Earlier, the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Said Hatibzade said that the three border islands in the Persian Gulf – Abu Musa, Bolshoi and Small Tomb are “eternal Iranian territory”.
