The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan again turned to the leadership of the Russian peacekeeping contingent with a demand not to distort the name of settlements in Karabakh.
“Once again, we regret that in the official data of the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation, the names of the Azerbaijani territories are still designated by fictional Armenian toponyms.
A indifferent attitude to repeated appeals on our part due to the non -use of these incorrect expressions is not entirely clear.
The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan once again states that the incorrect designation of the names of the Azerbaijani settlements, as well as the use of the term “territory of the Nagorno -Karabakh” is unacceptable.
Once again, we remind you that in the official ballot of the Russian peacekeeping contingent dated 02.12.2022, published on the official Internet page of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the territory designated as the “territory of the Nagorno-Karabakh” is the Karabakh economic area, and the official names of Azerbaijani populated points called “Mardakert” and “Martuni” – Agerer and Khojavend, respectively.
We call for the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, temporarily deployed in Azerbaijan, in our relevant data to identify the names of settlements in our country with correct toponyms, ”the defense department said.
