Multi -billion Russian assets are blocked in Belgium

about 50 billion euros of Russian funds were blocked in Belgium in 2022 as part of anti -Russian sanctions, writes Echo.

The publication notes that the Kingdom authorities conduct about 30 customs inspections on the facts of suspicious export and imported container deliveries through the ports of the country, in which a violation of trade sanctions norms of the EU could be committed.

In particular, we are talking about spare parts, electronic components, products of steel and chemical industry, which can be used in military production, luxury goods, medical equipment and agricultural sector products.

In addition, the customs authorities investigate a number of cases of supply of steel, gold and oil products from Russia.

The newspaper reports that last year in Belgium were blocked for a thorough check of 27 thousand containers who were heading to Russia. Up to 500 containers remain blocked.

In addition to Russia, the country’s customs authorities pay special attention to deliveries to Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, which, according to the publication, are most often used to circumvent anti -Russian sanctions.
