Number of refugees in Europe increased by 15%

The number of asylum seekers in the European Union, which decreased in 2020 due to a pandemic increased in 2021. This is evidenced by the data of the European Statistical Agency.

In the first nine months of 2021, 355,955 new applications for asylum were registered in the EU, which is 15% more than in the same period last year.

Germany remains the main purpose of migrants: at the end of September, 100,240 applications were submitted, which is a third more than for the corresponding period in 2020, and more than twice the Middle Equipment.

In addition, refugees seek to France (73,255 applications, 20% of the total), Spain (39755, 11%) and Italy (28645, 8%).

A third of all refugees in the EU amounted to migrants from Afghanistan and Syria.
