“We will not go for compromises …”: NATO handed over Moscow his suggestions

NATO on Wednesday transferred Russian side of their written security proposals, said the Secretary General of Alliance Jens Stoltenberg. “… We did it in parallel with the United States,” he said, transfers Interfax.

Earlier it was reported that US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan handed over to Washington’s written response to Russian security guarantees.

Stoltenberg said that the response of the Alliance on Russia’s proposals on European security includes Ukraine and the situation around it, calling the Russian Federation to de essay.

According to Stoltenberg, Belarusian and Russian troops near Ukraine are in a high degree of combat readiness: “Voltage is growing. Russia is increasing the military presence, and we see not only more military around Ukraine, but also in Belarus.”

Stoltenberg reported that NATO offers Russia to reduce risks, restoring the work of representative offices – alliance in Russia and Russia in Brussels, as well as work on arms control.

At the same time, NATO told the Russian side that he would not compromise on its fundamental principles. “We made it clear to understand that we will not go on compromises regarding our main principles, and one of them is that any country has the right to choose its own way,” said Stoltenberg, commenting on the response directed by NATO of Russia.

Stoltenberg added that in the alliance is ready for both a dialogue with Russia and to actions in the event of Russia attacks in Ukraine.
