Claar: EU has its own interests in South Caucasus

The European Union is actively involved in the peaceful process between Azerbaijan and Armenia at all levels, ”the special representative of the European Union in the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toyvo Claar.

said in an interview with the Voice of America.

According to him, the EU’s involvement is evidenced by the activities of the Chairman of the European Council Charles Michel, who held four meetings in Brussels between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Claar also noted his own efforts in this direction. Another evidence of the EU activity in the region, Klaar believes, is the placement of the monitoring mission in Armenia along the border with Azerbaijan.

“The EU has its own interests (in the South Caucasus). This is our neighbor, because the interest in the peaceful and prosperous Caucasus is obvious. Therefore, it is important that we can resolve the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” he said.
