Assistance to Ukraine remains one of the priorities of American foreign policy. Such a statement was made by the leader of the Republican Party faction in the US Senate Mitch MacConnell.
“Helping Ukraine today, America directly demonstrates its loyalty to the simplest principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty,” said McConnell, his words are quoted by BBC.
In his speech, MacConnell called Zelensky “inspiring leader.”
The reason that most Americans from both political parties and most of both factions of Congress support continuing assistance to Ukraine, are not related to inspirational speeches or philanthropy. The people of Ukraine are innocent and they deserve our help. President Zelensky is an inspirational leader. But the main reason why we help Ukraine to break up and defeat the invaders is practical. These are just the interests of the United States, ”said McConnell.
