The Yerevan court granted the petition of the investigative body to arrest Igor Khachaturov, the son of the former head of the General Staff of Armenia Yuri Khachaturov, Armenia Today reports.
According to investigation, Igor Khachaturov is accused of disobedient to the legal request of the government representative and the application of violence on May 17, 2022 on his respect on Kievan Street during the protest organized political opposition.
Based on the evidence received, Khachaturov was charged under Part 1 of Art. 316 of the Criminal Code (the use of violence that is not dangerous for life or health, or the threat of its application in relation to a representative of the authorities), a petition was made to the court to apply a preventive measure to him in the form of arrest, which was satisfied.
According to the source, during the investigation, information was received that citizen Khachaturov, who applied violence against a police officer during the specified incident, was intoxicated. To clarify the above circumstances, the proceeding by the production body made a decision on the appointment of the examination, but Igor Khachaturov refused to surrender the sample. A preliminary investigation of the criminal case continues.
