Over the past year, 473 border violators, 899 violators of the regime and 2720 people on the wanted list were detained by the Azerbaijani border guards. This was announced in an interview with the military magazine “Polygon” by the head of the State Border Service (GPS), Colonel General Elchin Guliev.
According to the head of the State Border Service, the smuggling of 76 million 443 thousand 870 manat was stopped, including 95,151 units of psychotropic drugs, 980 milliliters of metadon fluid and 1 ton of 96 kilograms of 373 grams of drugs.
Guliyev noted that as a result of events in the direction of identifying intelligence and subsidiary activities against Azerbaijan, 6 people were identified as suspects, among them a citizen of Azerbaijan. As part of the fight against terrorism, 6 people were detained.
There are also 15 criminal groups engaged in the organization of illegal migration, smuggling, as well as drug trafficking.
“For this statistics there is a daily dedicated service, courage and heroism of our officers and warrant officers, sergeants and soldiers,” the GPS chairman emphasized.
