Vilayat Eyvazov thanked bloggers and public activists

On the eve of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, a meeting of the board was held, dedicated to the search for accused and missing, the fight against drug trafficking, compensation for damage caused to citizens as a result of crimes and minor thefts. According to the report, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel General, Wilage Eyvazov, opening the meeting, said that all issues made to discuss the board are of great importance in protecting the basic human rights and legitimate interests of citizens.

The heads of the relevant departments of the ministry reported on the work done and the results achieved. It was noted that over 9 months of this year, more than 81 percent of those wanted around the country were detained and transferred to the investigation. During the specified period, law enforcement officers found and seized 3 tons of narcotic and 300 kilograms of psychotropic drugs with a total value of 40 million manat – 293 kilograms more than the corresponding period of the last year. 241 facts related to Internet sales of drugs were identified – as a result, 400 kilograms of narcotic and psychotropic substances were seized from illegal circulation. As a result of operational measures, 113 criminal groups consisting of 289 people were neutralized.

Constant work is underway to prevent illegal cultivation and wild distribution of plants containing narcotic substances. As part of a special plan, the investigators found and destroyed the hemp bushes and poppies with a total mass of about 25 tons, as well as more than 166 tons of this species of plants growing in the wild.

Completing the meeting, Minister Eyvazov expressed gratitude to everyone who demonstrated a high civil position in the fight against crime, transnational drug trafficking, including bloggers and other public activists, representatives of non -governmental organizations and media representatives. In this regard, he noted that up to 20 percent of facts in the fight against drug trafficking, including online sales, are revealed on the basis of citizens’ information.

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, speaking at work carried out in connection with the elimination of congestion on roads in Baku during the growth of the number of vehicles, noted the importance of removing cars illegally parked from roads and interfering with the normal movement of transport, as well as strengthening measures in this area.

Summing up the meeting of the board, Colonel General Wilage Eyvazov gave specific instructions, indicating the upcoming tasks on all three issues. The minister expressed confidence that the personnel of the internal affairs bodies will continue to be worthy to fulfill the functions determined by law, will attach all the forces and ability to ensure stability and tranquility in the country.
