Witchcraft did not help Mamedova escape from court

The trial of a 21-year-old resident of the Agdam district Lamia Mamedova, a “specialist” on witchcraft, managed to lure simple-minded and gullible people.

According to the Haqqın.az correspondent, Mamedova advertised her services on Instagram. She claimed that she could solve any problem with the help of magic, talismans, prayers and other similar methods. They detained a fraudster at the metro station “January 20”, when she was going to convey to one of her victims church candles for a certain ritual.

The guilty of Mamedova found herself only partially. She confirmed that the aforementioned Instagram profile belongs to her, but claimed that she had not deceived anyone. According to the accused, she handed over the church candles simply at the request of her friend. The woman added that she is interested in the Christian religion.

Mamedova’s injured words refuted. One of the victims of the fraudster said that she paid the last 970 manat in order to settle the conflict with her husband. Mamedova handed over to the naive woman church candles, some prayers and instructions for their use.

Another victim of the defendant soldered to 1700 manat for a bunch of church candles. Another woman Mammadov took 500, and then another 700 manat, threatening her in case of refusal by the death of her son and other troubles. Some victims paid a fraudster online and did not know how she looked.

After some time, Mamedova’s victims realized that they were deceived, and turned to law enforcement agencies.

In court, Mamedova took pity on her young age, as well as mitigating circumstances – the fraudster compensated for the damage caused to his two victims. She was sentenced to 2 years 8 months and 4 days of restriction of freedom.
