The Minister of Economics of Armenia Vaan Kerobyan is sure that if geopolitical circumstances turn out in favor of Armenia and the border with Turkey will open, then all the entrepreneurs of Armenia will feel the positive effect.
Kerobyan expressed such an opinion in an interview with Armenpress, affecting the recent decision of Turkey to remove the ban on direct air transportation of goods from Armenia and the question of its possible influence on the economy of Armenia.
“The opening of the border with Turkey will lead to high economic growth, because the Turkish market, the discovery of communications will give wide opportunities, the exit both to the Turkish market and in terms of transporting goods to the countries of the Middle East. All this, of course, should not be considered local, in the form of a small picture. This is a small part of a large picture. And if geopolitical circumstances turn out in our favor, and we will eventually come to this, I am sure that all businessmen of Armenia will feel a positive effect, ”he said.
Touching upon the issue of possible risks for Armenian manufacturers in the conditions of opening the border, he noted that there will be risks, of course, but the government is carrying out serious work.
At the same time, the minister noted that according to the available information of regular air transportation with Turkey,
“and, in truth, given the close distance between the countries, most likely will not be, because the transport communication by land is quite accessible. And air communication is not so attractive at first glance” – – – Kerobyan noticed.
However, he did not rule out regular transportation for some types of products.
“In any case, during passenger air transportation, goods are also transported, which, in fact, is a type of freight air transportation. There are simply no freight aircraft yet, it may not be. It does not particularly bother us,” the minister
