Assistant to President of Russian Federation: Russia has never had goal of winning Ukraine

Russia never had the goal of conquering Ukraine and did not refuse negotiations with this country. This was stated by the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky, who headed the Russian delegation in negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul in the spring of 2022.

“Russia has never set the goal of Ukraine. The West and [President of Ukraine Vladimir] Zelensky dragged our countries into full -fledged military operations,” said Medinsky, whose words are brought by the Russian media.

At the same time, the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation confirmed that Russia demanded from Ukraine in the spring of 2022 to negotiations refusal to join NATO. “But I emphasize that, in addition, among the unconditional requirements on our part, there was a recognition of Russian sovereignty over the Crimea, the recognition of the independence of the Republics of Donbass, then there was a large series of humanitarian requirements, but we proceeded from the protection of the Russian -language population of Donbass,” Medinsky noted.

In addition, Medinsky drew attention to the fact that Moscow never refused negotiations with Kiev. “My personal deep conviction that Ukraine and I have a common historical past, we are one people, and we have an inevitable general historical future,” he said.

According to the Russian politician, the current government in Kyiv “when making the most important political decisions is neither sovereign nor independent.”

“Our president [Vladimir Putin] has repeatedly said that the current Kiev authority, when making the most important political decisions, is neither sovereign nor independent. Now we see that they themselves are admitted. They themselves are forced to admit that they are managed that they are managed that they are managed From the outside. So, as always, the president was right, ”said Medinsky.

At the same time, the presidential assistant expressed confidence that “sign a peace treaty then [in 2022] on mutually acceptable conditions, he would have saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of his soldiers.” But [President of Ukraine Vladimir] Zelensky chose the war, ”says Medinsky.

According to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, in April 2022, in addition to the Prime Minister of Great Britain of that period Boris Johnson, the heads of the State Department and Pentagon, as well as other “advisers” who did not recommend signing a peace treaty, also arrived.

The conclusion of a peace treaty with Ukraine is now possible with the fullest fulfillment of the goals and objectives of the “special military operation,” – summed up Medinsky.

Earlier, the head of the faction of the President Party “Servant of the People” in the Verkhovna Rada David Arahamia said that Russia in negotiations with Ukraine in 2022 demanded non -block status from it.

After a certain break, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations through the mediation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held negotiations in Istanbul in the spring of 2022.
