Baku and Tbilisi will become sister cities

The work on a memorandum on the establishment of twinning relations between Baku and Tbilisi is nearing completion. The initiative belongs to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia, Georgia Online reports.

Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Andriya Basilaya noted that the mayor’s office is very interested in the capital of Georgia reaching a qualitatively new level of relations with Baku, the central city of a friendly and fraternal state – Azerbaijan.

Note that Baku and Tbilisi have been partner cities since 1997. The industrial cities of Azerbaijan and Georgia Sumgait and Rustavi became twin cities in 1952.
