Azerbaijani team in judo made a real splash at the World Cadet Championships in Bosnian Sarajevo.
Having won one silver and two bronze awards based on the results of a personal championship, our athletes were truly “lit” in a team tournament, challenging in the final of France and winning silver with a golden hue. This was once again illustrated by the cadet world championship, where the national team issued a number of bright fights.
For example, in the semifinals against Ukraine, which ended with a score of 4: 3, Nizami Imranov (60 kg), who had previously won bronze in the individual standings, had to go out on the tatami twice. At first, he won Nazar Viskov, taking his team forward (3: 2), but in the next fight Fidan Alizade (63 kg) was injured, and the winner of the match was determined in an additional meeting. According to the lot, the meeting was supposed to go between judges in weight up to 60 kg, and here again Imranov, who again overcome Viskov.

The meeting with the French became a kind of test of maturity for our team, and I must say that he passed it. After all, “tricolor” are especially successfully performed in team tournaments: the first team won the start of mixed teams at the Olympics, younger ages are also in leading roles. And the Azerbaijani judokas gave a real battle to the rivals, and who knows what outcome would have been at the final if F. Alyzade was in order, which after the match with Ukraine was taken to the hospital.
