Russia: second large shopping center burned down second in week

In the Balashikha near Moscow, the Stroypark shopping center caught fire. The fire occurred on an open area of 200 square meters next to the center, but then the fire spread to the first floor of the Stroypark and covered up to 12 thousand square meters, Russian media reported with reference to emergency services.

The fire area grew after the collapse of the roof and structures of the building. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was a short circuit due to the rain. “The fire arose under a canopy where polystyrene foam was stored. It arose due to a short circuit of the electrical wiring due to abundant precipitation,” the Ministry of Emergencies explained.

The fire was awarded the fourth rank of complexity. There is a threat to the spread of fire to the entire building and collapse of structures. The extinguishing is complicated by the availability of building materials and flammable products, it is noted in emergency services. 35 units of equipment and 110 people participate in extinguishing. So far, only a guard affected by a fire is known.
