Victory of Prosecutor General Nevada brought Democrats control over US Senate

The Democratic Party managed to maintain control of the Senate. Senator-Democrat Katherin Cortes Masto, a former prosecutor and general prosecutor Nevada, defeats the Republican of Adam Laksalt, her successor to the post of Prosecutor General, who was supported by ex-president Donald Trump, follows from the calculations of NBC, CNN, ABC and other American media.

In Arizona, according to earlier media forecasts, the Democrat Senator, former astronaut Mark Kelly won over the Republican, venture capitalist Blake Masters, who was also supported by Trump.

Thus, at the moment, the Democratic Party receives 50 seats in the Senate, the Republican – 49 places

The only state where the voting results are not yet known is Georgia. There, on December 6, the second round of elections to the Senate will take place.

However, even if a candidate from the Republicans won in Georgia, with an equal distribution of votes in the Senate, a draw can be allowed by the US Vice President – Democrat Kamala Harris.

“I am satisfied and looking forward to the next couple of years,” Joe Biden commented on the preliminary results of the election.

Preservation of control over the Senate means that democrats will still be able to approve the official posts of candidates nominated by Biden, including federal judges.

The victory of the Biden party in the Senate is especially notable, given not only its low approval rating and the current level of inflation in the United States – the highest 40 years, BBC notes.

No less remarkable, according to the British edition, was the performance of the Democrats in the elections to the House of Representatives. Republicans, it seems, still gain the majority there, but with a much smaller marks than many predicted. The expected advantage of the Republicans in the lower house of parliament will bring Joe Biden a lot of problems, but large -scale internal disagreements within the Republican Party will play in his favor.
