Germany promises Ukraine additional weapons

German Chancellor Olaf Sholts on Tuesday, June 14, once again promised Ukraine modern weapons, writes DW.

“It is clear that Ukraine needs additional weapons for its defense,” said Sholts.

He noted that Germany supplied Ukraine with the beginning of the invasion.

“In this critical phase, we significantly expand our support: we, among other things, supply Ukraine with a modern anti -aircraft system and a radar of artillery detection,” the Chancellor said.

Scholts specified that deliveries will be coordinated with partners from Europe and NATO.

In turn, the Minister of Defense of Germany Christine Lambrecht said that the training of the Ukrainian military on self -propelled howitzers Panzerhaubitze 2000 will be completed “in the near future.” After this, the weapon can be delivered to Ukraine. At the same time, he did not name the deadlines.

In addition to the seven howitzers Panzerhaubitze 2000, Germany promised to put the GEPARD RSO, the IRIS-T anti-aircraft system and the Mars-Fire Rocket system.
