Wild elephants went for 150 thousand Chinese

The authorities of the Chinese south-western province Yunnan from April of this year evacuated more than 150 thousand inhabitants of the region due to the herd of migratory wildlife. This was reported on Monday agency “Xinhua”.

A flock of 15 Asian elephants in April 2021 began to migrate from the Mojiang-Hani Autonomous County in the Puer City District. Their path flew in close proximity to the settlements of the province. From April 16, they passed more than 1.3 thousand km through the urban district of Yusi, Honghe and Kunming. When animals approaching the locals, local residents temporarily moved. The provincial authorities involved 25 thousand police officers to ensure people’s safety.

For the movement of animals, the regional headquarters for monitoring wild elephants was observed. They watched both from the ground and from the air (with the help of drones). Staff staff left feed on elephant paths. For 110 days of wanderings, animals ate 180 tons prepared for them. According to the head of the headquarters, Wan Yuna, during the migration of elephants, none of the people and animals suffered.
