Dodon stated purpose of granting Moldova status of a candidate for European Union

The former President of Moldova Igor Dodon called the goal of granting the republic the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union. In his opinion, they are trying to draw the country into the geopolitical games of the West against Russia. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“In fact, we became applicants for new political and military experiments, according to the sad example of Ukraine,” the ex -president said.

Dodon noted that Moldova was accepted into the candidates in a hurry, in the absence of the necessary reforms and with the “political regime of the PDS (” Action and Solidarity “party), which become dictatorial and grossly violating the foundations of the right state and fundamental freedoms of citizens.”

This, Dodon believes, confirms the fact that the republic will take the role of a pawn on the “geopolitical board” of the West.

The heads of European countries approved the provision of the status of candidates to Ukraine and Moldova to join the European Union at the summit, which was held in Brussels on June 23.

Earlier, Moldova President Maya Sandu said that the country’s authorities are ready to pay any political price for joining the European Union. She noted that the republic has a long way to comply with the requirements of the EU.
