NATO increased combat readiness of rapid response forces

NATO’s command in connection with the crisis around Ukraine for the first time accepted concrete measures and increased the combat readiness of rapid response forces of 40 thousand people, reports the Edition of Die Welt with reference to an unnamed high-ranking representative of the Alliance.

According to the publication, from seven to five days there is a ready-to-deployment period in the crisis zone of the combined operational readiness group (VJTF), consisting of 6.4 thousand people and the Turkey he heads.

It is reported that the degree of readiness is also increased for the forces of special operations and logistics services. However, the newspaper clarifies, it is not about sending to the zone of crisis.

It is noted that these measures are taken not only in connection with the crisis around Ukraine, but also to strengthen the defense of countries such as Poland, Romania, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The publication argues that the relevant decision took the North Atlantic Council last week. Officially, this information for DIE WELT has not been confirmed.
