Turkey increased purchase of Azerbaijani gas by Tanap

Gas exports from Azerbaijan in 2021 increased by 39.8% compared with the indicator of 2020 and amounted to 18.9 billion cubic meters, transmits Interfax.

According to data, about 8.5 billion cubic meters (recession by 23.5%) was delivered to Turkey, including the TANAP gas pipeline – 5.6 billion cubic meters of gas (20.1% growth), on South Caucasian pipeline highway (Bak-Tbilisi-Erzurum) – 2.8 billion cubic meters (recession 2.3 times).

In Europe, the supply of Azerbaijani gas amounted to 8.2 billion cubic meters, in Georgia – 2.2 billion cubic meters (recession by 3.9%), to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline system – 0.1 billion cubic meters (decline in 6 , 6%).

The supply of Azerbaijani gas to Europe on the transadriatic gas pipeline (TAP) began on December 31, 2020. For the first time in the history of Azerbaijan, exported its natural gas to the European market on pipelines.

Transanatoline gas pipeline (TANAP) with a length of 1.85 thousand km is intended for transporting Azerbaijani gas from the Shah-Deniz field within 3-2 stage from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey. The capacity of the gas pipeline is 16 billion cubic meters, of which 10 billion is intended to be in Europe, 6 billion cubic meters – to the Western regions of Turkey.
