United States announced return of two of its citizens arrested in Venezuela

US President Joe Biden stated that two American citizens who were in the Venezuelan prison will return to the USA reports RIA Novosti.

“Tonight two Americans who were illegally detained in Venezuela, will be able to hug their relatives again. We will return home Cardenas and Jorge Fernandez,” said the American leader.

Cardenas is one of the six former heads of the American CitGo company detained in Venezuela in 2017 on charges of money laundering. Five of the detainees have American citizenship, and another – the status of the permanent resident of the United States.

In November 2020, the Supreme Court of Venezuela sentenced six US citizens to prison sections from 8 to 13 years. Fernandez was arrested in Venezuela last year by “fabricated charges.”

Biden expressed gratitude to his special representative of the hostages and the entire US diplomatic team for their efforts to exempt Americans.
